Our Peace of Mind Guarantee means that if you need to postpone or cancel your holiday, we will be here to support you with full refunds and hassle-free postponement. You can be assured that booking with TravelLocal is risk-free.

Our flexible terms in a nutshell

      • Free cancellation up to 31 days before travel.

      • Hassle-free postponement at any time before the date of travel.
      • Secure your holiday with just a 10% deposit.
      • Settle your remaining balance just 31 days before travel.

We understand that booking a trip at the moment is a bit of a different process to what it was before - the world has changed and holidays with it! That is why we’ve created a highly flexible booking policy so that you can book your TravelLocal holiday with confidence.

To reflect the challenges of the current situation, we have spoken with our local partners around the world to come up with a new set of terms that mean you can book with complete security, whilst not worrying about missing out on experiences already being booked up for 2022 and beyond.

Your holiday is safe, and our local partners remain supported - everybody wins.

Don't just take our word for it

We hope you will forgive the cliché, but we really do want you to know that you needn’t just take our word for it that you, your holiday and your money are in safe hands with TravelLocal.

Which? recently listed us as one of the few travel companies you can trust in the COVID era to look after your money and refund you promptly when requested, and you can read the article here.

We're also proud that:

  • We have processed all refunds within the 14 day requirement of the package travel regulations, making sure we have honoured the law and our commitment to our customers.

  • We've got your back - with 24 hr emergency support both in your destination and from here in the UK.

  • Together with our local partners we’ve postponed over 50% of bookings affected so far. This has meant that:
    1. Local economies dependent on tourism have remained supported during a very difficult time.
    2. Travellers have still had a future trip to look forward to without worrying about availability becoming limited as restrictions ease and tourists return.
  • The remaining 35% of bookings chose to cancel, or were successfully repatriated with the help of our local partners and claimed on their insurance.

“What happens if we have to cancel or postpone within 31 days of travelling?”

No one can predict what is going to happen at the moment. But we and our local partners are experts on tourism and our destinations, and we are always there for you if you have any questions that you can’t find the answers to online.

We are ABTA and ATOL protected, and our flexible terms and conditions keep you safe if COVID restrictions suddenly mean that you can’t travel. For example:

        • If newly imposed quarantine rules in your chosen destination mean you can’t have your holiday without needing to quarantine on arrival, we will help you to postpone your trip or cancel and receive a 100% refund.

      • If the British Government’s FCO advice changes to advise against all but essential travel, then we will help you to postpone your trip or cancel and receive a 100% refund.

If there’s any other reason that you need to cancel within the 31 day window, then please just get in touch and we will do all that we can to accommodate and support you.

Some of the (important!) finer details

Our trips are all fully tailor-made, and some countries have unique policies that don’t fully align with our timescales. This means that in some exceptional circumstances* - depending on your destination or the activities you have chosen - our new terms cannot apply to everything. If this is the case, we and our local partners will be completely upfront and you will be made fully aware of this before you book.

If you are booking a very last minute holiday that falls within 31 days of travel, then please get in touch and we and our local partners will do all that we can to get you where you want to go.

*Due to demand and exclusivity, some destinations need to be booked further in advance than 31 days, e.g. the Falkland Islands and the Galapagos Islands, and some excursions likewise e.g. gorilla trekking. As stated above, if this is the case you will be made fully aware of this before you book.

T&Cs: Terms & Conditions apply.

(1)  Some destinations have activities or accommodation that need to be booked further in advance than 31 days and therefore the 31 day postponement / cancellation terms may not apply or may need to be longer. If this is relevant to your holiday, you will be informed clearly before you book.

(2) TravelLocal reserves the right to impose a final booking deadline for these terms to apply. All bookings made prior to this deadline being introduced will be honoured with the flexible terms in place. The introduction of the deadline will be clearly communicated ahead of time.

(3) These terms only apply to new bookings, made from 19th November 2020 onwards.

(4) Please note that a destination being on the UK's red or amber lists does not mean that it is illegal to travel there, just that more stringent quarantine and testing measures are in place for returning to the UK. Therefore TravelLocal reserves the right to not postpone or cancel trips due to their "Traffic Light" status. We will always abide by FCDO advice and use this to guide our decisions. Of course, we will always do our best to ensure you get the holiday you have booked.
